Progressively drying out today, warmer and clearer weather ahead
The chance for anyone to see any rain today will be slim. The Cascades will get periods of snow today but the high desert will remain mostly dry. You could see a few raindrops or flakes falling, so you can grab a raincoat, but most of us shouldn’t need it.
We’ll officially clear Thursday as the upper level low exits to our southeast and a ridge of high pressure starts to build. Looking ahead, you can expect plenty of blue skies as the ridge takes over.
Temperatures remain cool and below normal today, in the 40s and low 50s, as the low lingers. The region will begin warming through the rest of the week. We will see near normal temperatures by the end of the week, with 60s and potentially 70s making a long-awaited return for the weekend.
Looking outside the Pacific Northwest for a moment, severe weather continues to hit the Central Plains and Eastern River Valleys. Threat for severe weather began last weekend and has remained elevated each and every day this week. A tornado outbreak is expected today in the Ohio and Mississippi Valleys where severe weather risk is high (Rating: 5/5). In addition to tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain are all threats. Severe weather season typically peaks in May.
Have a good Wednesday.
