Stray showers linger tonight, dry and milder Thursday

Spring is trying to arrive and take hold of Central Oregon, as the mountains maintain a wintry pattern of snow.  That is probably the best of both worlds since the snow riders will be happy to keep the snow machine on, and the High Desert is ready for Spring.

Expect some travel issues if you are heading to the Valley tonight as there will be some lingering snow into the night.  The roads will not be overwhelmed, but it will be slick so please take your time.  The precipitation over the High Desert should be tapering off as the bulk of the rain is north of the Tri-Counties.  Not much clearing expected, but some stars may be visible from time to time tonight.

Wednesday will be a dry and mild day as a ridge of high pressure pushes north into Oregon.  The mercury in the thermometer will rise to the upper 60s tomorrow as the ridge takes over.  There should be a mix of clouds and sunshine that will keep the area getting to the 70s, but that is what we are expecting on Thursday.

Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy to start, then a passing shower is slated to cross the area late in the day.  There may be some light mountain snow and some light rain at lower elevations.  Not a big event, and most may not even see rain. Highs will be in the low 70s, occurring before the rain cools the region.

Friday will be cooler after the showers pass late Thursday, and we will be dry for several days. The mountains will see more light snow Saturday, but not much moisture makes it east of the Cascades. Temps Saturday will be on the cool side, topping out near 50, then slowly rise as we start the new week. Still in the 50s Sunday, then the 60s Monday and Tuesday.

Please stay safe.
