More sunshine and warmer weather, rain possible by Friday
The region continues to stay on the sunny side of the street with temperatures rising into the 60s. This pattern is expected to extend through Thursday and possibly hit the 70s Thursday afternoon. There is a prescribed burn today near La Pine, but the air quality is still in the good to moderate ranges in Southern Deschutes County.
Wednesday will be a dry day with some clouds moving into the area later in the day. I expect to see the mercury in the thermometer rise into the low 60s and the winds will be generally light and variable. We have a few changes on the way for Thursday as we await the arrival of some rain Friday.
Thursday will be the day of transition as clouds move in and set us up for the rain that is slated for Friday and Saturday. Highs will be near 70 on Thursday, even with the cloud cover late in the day.
Rain begins before sunrise Friday and there may be some spotty snow above 5000 feet. The mountain passes will be slick Friday morning so if you have plans to travel to the Valley, expects travel issues. The rain will be off and on most of the day. Highs will be in the middle 50s.
Saturday will be rainy as well and slightly cooler. Mountain snow is still on the table with around an inch of snow expected on grassy areas above 5000 feet.
Sunday will provide us with clearing skies and slightly warmer temperature readings. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 50s.
Please stay safe.
