One more day of sunshine before a couple days of rain
Thursday was a day that was bathed in sunshine and that allowed the temperature readings to get into the 60s. As the day moved on, we did start to notice some high clouds arriving from the south. The introduction of the cloud cover is a preamble to the rain that is expected to arrive Friday.
The rain Friday will begin late in the day so if you want to get in a nice run or hike, bike ride or stroll, you should stay dry most of the day. The rain will be widespread and models are expecting about a tenth to a quarter inch of rain Friday, then more added to the gauges Saturday.
Saturday will see the rain early in the day and should taper off by early afternoon or slightly before. The rain will be light with a few pockets of moderate rain in Crook County. Overall, a good old fashioned soaking is expected.
The chance for some minor flooding is usually on the table when we get rain in the Spring. The rain, combined with the snow melt, can overtake some of the smaller creeks and streams in the region that are already running fast from snow melt. Keep an eye on the waterways in your neighborhood Saturday and into Sunday as they may reach bank full.
Sunday looks to be a breezy day as the sunshine returns. Highs will be in the 60s under partly cloudy skies. Monday will be mostly sunny and dry as the mercury reaches the low 60s. Tuesday may see some rain in Jefferson County but only a passing shower. Wednesday will see temperature readings in the 70s.
Please stay safe.
