Rain will begin in the mid to late afternoon today, so best to run your errands early in the day before showers roll in. As we heat up into the 60s this afternoon, we’ll see some instability and chances for thunderstorms in the late evening hours. Gusty winds, heavy rains, and lightning are likely underneath the isolated storms. I'm tracking between an tenth and quarter inch of rain across the region, but heavier amounts underneath storms. Rain totals could reach near half an inch by tomorrow afternoon, which could be a concern for some localized flooding.

Rain will continue Saturday, but taper off through the day. Chances for storms slim down and stay mostly to the south and east, but a few rumbles of thunder can't be entirely ruled out.

Temperatures will cool progressively through the weekend. Plan for highs in the mid 50s to mid 60s.

Happy Friday. If you hear thunder roar, go indoors. Have a nice weekend!
