Summer-feel today but rain returns for the weekend with chances for thunderstorms and mountain snow

Look for full sunshine and summer-feel temperatures today, hitting the 70s and low 80s. If you’re spending the day at Smith Rock or along the river, pack sunscreen and a little extra water.
Friday will be just as warm, but an incoming low pressure system will bring changes that you should be aware of.
Rain returns Friday afternoon with the chance for isolated thunderstorms to develop Friday evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed us under the “general” risk category for storms on Friday. Nothing severe is expected, but there is a chance for some heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning underneath any potential storms.
Rain will continue through the day Saturday, with the chance for mountain snow early in the weekend. I’m tracking the potential for nearly half an inch of rainfall by the end of Saturday. Keep an eye out for potential minor flooding along river banks and streams.
Because of this, we have enacted a Local Alert Weather Day for this Saturday, but be aware of the potential for some impactful weather Friday night as well. We’ve issued this alert just so you’re aware of incoming weather that might impact your plans. I think the rain will be your biggest hindrance to any plans this weekend, but it’s always important to be aware of prepared for all possibilities.
The weekend will be cooler, in the 50s and low 60s at times. Rain clear by Sunday.

Happy Thursday! Have a nice day, enjoy the sunshine.
