Gray, dreary and breezy today, sun returns Wednesday

The pattern continues to stay on the cool and gray side with highs today in the 50s.  Mostly cloudy will also best define the day as the clouds will linger well into the evening.  The rain chances are east of the Tri-Counties, but a stray shower is not off the table. The best chance for a shower is to the east of highway 97.

Wednesday will still see a below normal afternoon high as the mercury in the thermometer will only hit the upper 50s.  Normal highs this time of year in Central Oregon are in the middle 60s. Sunshine will return to the region, but even with the sunshine we cannot get out of the 50s. The cool pool of air in the region will still keep below normal.  Winds will be noticeable both today and tomorrow, with gusts near 25 mph at times

The area warms slightly on Thursday but I do see a stray shower arriving in the evening. This will be a light shower and may not have enough moisture to make it to the ground. Variably cloudy sky conditions are expected, but partly sunny skies are possible into early afternoon.

Friday is a set-up day for Saturday as the clouds will be back and moisture returns to the region. I am not expecting any rain on Friday, maybe after sunset, but we are going to see scattered showers most of the day Saturday.

The chance for snow is also possible, but no accumulations on the mountain passes as the region has gone well above freezing for too long. Slushy or wet snow will be the hazard that needs to be navigated Saturday and early Sunday above 6000 feet.

Please stay safe.
