Gradual warming expected through the week
We have a pretty simple and unchanging upper level pattern impacting us this week which will keep things consistent and quiet for the next seven days. There is a very large ridge of high pressure over the Pacific and a large low pressure over the central United States. We are sitting in between these two systems. Because of how large these two systems are, they don’t want to budge at all.
What does that mean for us? Our general flow is coming from the northwest, which is drier so you can plan for sunshine this week. We’re sitting under the front edge of the high pressure, which means temperatures have a chance to heat up. You can expect areas in our region to warm up a few degrees each and every day so that by the weekend, it’ll feel like summer with highs in the 80s, and maybe even tipping into the 90s.
For today, look for highs to top out in the low to mid 70s under sunny skies. Winds will be a bit breezy at times, which is something you can expect for the majority of the week.
June 1st marked the first day of meteorological summer. It’s not officially summer–that will occur on the summer solstice which falls on June 20th this year–but for record-keeping sake, we can call it that. Summer solstice is the longest day of the year, when the sun is highest in the sky.
Have a happy Monday and a great week!
