Temperatures are dropping into the mid 70s to low 80s today under mostly sunny skies. Winds will get a little breezy this afternoon, gusting at around 20-25mph.

After a string of hot and dry days, followed by stormy weather, we are tracking a few new fire starts across the region. Many small fires were reported and extinguished, but there are a couple that have gotten a head start on firefighters. The Rowena Fire near Hood River is at 2500 acres and putting off smoke across the region, but not impacting Central Oregon. The Juniper Hill Fire is just east of Prineville Reservoir and has burned 35 acres. Right now, air quality is not being impacted.

We will continue to monitor the growth of these new fires and the potential for any others to start. Stay tuned into KTVZ for the latest as new updates come in throughout the day.

Otherwise a quiet weekend ahead. Temperatures will range from the mid 70s to the low 80s on Saturday and Sunday under mostly sunny skies. It should be the perfect weekend to get some gardening done, walk the farmer’s market, or make it out to the rodeo.

Have a great Thursday!
