Warm and dry pattern continues, rain arrives Friday
A change in the overall pattern is coming to the region on Friday as a cool pocket of air arrives from the Gulf of Alaska. Until then the area will be mostly sunny and dry for the rest of the day as temps hit the lower to middle 80s. The winds are expected to pick up in the afternoon to around 10 - 12 mph, with gusts to 20 mph. This is not good news for folks fighting the Alder Springs fire. The winds at the fire site are expected to gust near 25 mph, challenging the lines.
As for the forecast for the rest of the week, we will see more sunshine tomorrow, and slightly cooler air. Highs will be in the middle 70s and some clouds will arrive in the afternoon. Winds will relax a bit Thursday as the last day of Spring 2025 will be pleasant and dry.
Friday is the day of transition as clouds move in as the day moves along and some spotty showers arrive. The temperatures will be much cooler, only reaching the low 60s by the early afternoon. Areas to the west of the Cascades may even hear the rumble of thunder. Not so much in Central Oregon, but we will be cooler and cloudy.
Saturday will be a rainy and chilly day as the mercury in the thermometer will only hit the upper 50s. The first day of Summer will be defined by temperatures more likely felt in April than in June. The rain will be some good old fashioned soaking rain, much needed, and should be off and on all day.
Sunday will see some rain early in the day, but I am expecting some sunshine in the afternoon.
Please stay safe.Â
