Local Alert Weather Day Tuesday, isolated storms possible
The heat today will linger into Tuesday as the region taps into very hot weather to our south and east. There is an area of low pressure off the coast of California that is in just the right spot to provide us heat and moisture. The storms Tuesday will develop south of our Tri-Counties and migrate north into the region by mid to late afternoon.

The storms Tuesday will be isolated, so some locations may not see any stormy weather. The storms are expected to produce some moderate to heavy rain at times along with frequent lightning. The winds should push out away from the storms and some gusts may reach 35 mph.

It would be nice to get some soaking rains, but unfortunately that will not be the case. We will take any rain we can get, but the fast and robust nature of the storms tomorrow will allow the rainwater to run off faster than it can be absorbed into the soil. Lightning will be a concern tomorrow too. Dry ground and lightning are a recipe for the ignition of fires.

There is also a Fire Weather Warning (formerly called the Red Flag Warning) for Tuesday for threat of gusty winds and dry lightning. We are also in the "Isolated Dry Thunderstorms" category for Tuesday with respect to the fire danger as a result of the storms and winds.

Wednesday gets us back into the 80s but some cloud cover lingers and a stray shower cannot be ruled out in the heat of the day. Thursday will cool even more as the mercury in the thermometer will only get to the low 80s.
A mix of clouds and sunshine will define the holiday with highs in the low 80s. There is a suggestion of some isolated showers Friday afternoon, but this far out there is not much confidence in that scenario just yet. We will fine tune that as we get past this event tomorrow. Currently it looks partly cloudy and warm with highs near normal in the low 80s.
Please stay safe and have fun.
