Storms and fire danger further south, Central Oregon stays sunny and dry
Bend, OR (KTVZ) -
There is an upper level low pressure that is cut off from the overall flow, currently spinning over California. Portions of Southern Oregon will see impacts of that system today and tomorrow as moisture wraps around the top and the atmosphere becomes unstable. Storms are expected this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon further south, bringing high fire danger to those areas.
However, Central Oregon will stay clear of storms heading into the weekend. Look for mostly sunny skies today but breezy winds, gusting near 20-25mph.
Temperatures this afternoon are in the mid 80s to low 90s. We’ll cool off a bit for the weekend. You can plan for a perfect and typical summer weekend in the high desert. Skies will be sunny and temperatures will top out in the 80s. I highly recommend spending it outdoors!
There are a number of opportunities for thunderstorms next week, starting Monday. Fire danger will be elevated next week for this reason. KTVZ News will continue to track and monitor those chances.
Have a great Thursday!
