High heat and a slight chance for thunderstorms

Bend, OR (KTVZ) -

A Heat Advisory is active for portions of the 97 corridor until 8pm tonight. Temperatures this afternoon will be in the 90s with areas under the advisory reaching the mid and upper 90s. Temperatures will be in the 90s through Thursday before progressively cooling off to near normal through the weekend.

The Air Quality Alert is active for Deschutes County until 11am this morning. Haze will linger through the day.

We have a handful of opportunities to see thunderstorms this week. Look for increasing cloud cover this afternoon and a chance for late-night rumbles of thunder. You could see a little rain Wednesday morning and isolated storm chances returning Wednesday afternoon.

The likelihood of seeing a storm today and tomorrow is slight, but will increase this weekend. Thunderstorm and rain chances look a little better Friday through Sunday.

Fire alerts are out for the Cascades for today and tomorrow due to thunderstorm chances along the mountains.

Have a happy Tuesday!
