Local Alert Weather Day for scattered thunderstorms and high fire danger
Bend, OR (KTVZ) -
We’ve issued a Local Alert Weather Day today due to the increasing chance of seeing scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Thunderstorms would bring gusty winds, hail, brief downpours, and abundant lightning. The greatest threats from these storms are the erratic winds and lightning which increases the threat for new fires and rapid fire growth. A Red Flag Warning has been released for Central Oregon and surrounding areas for this afternoon. It will expire late tonight as storms clear.

There is a chance for some spotty rain or isolated storms through the weekend, but chances are slimmer and it should stay relatively isolated.
Next week, however, big changes are expected. Look for widespread showers to continue off and on for the first half of the week. There is a chance for embedded thunderstorms Monday, but storm chances fall off the further out you go.
Temperatures are also cooling pretty drastically in the coming days. Today, highs are in the 80s but will cool to near normal by Sunday. Look for temperatures to be in the low to mid 80s on Saturday and range from the mid 70s to low 80s on Sunday. Temperatures will continue to drop into next week with highs only making it into the 60s and low 70s.
Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
