The last week of summer will feel ‘summer-like’

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) --  The summer pattern continues as the region remains warm and dry. The pattern will continue Friday, but some clouds begin to arrive from the south. An area of disturbance is brewing in Southern California and might push some cloud cover into Central Oregon.

The chance for rain is below 20% so there is not much rain expected in the area. We have been so dry over the past several days that the light rain indicated by the computers will more than likely evaporate before making it to the ground.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Mario is causing trouble in SoCal, but the clouds are casting a wide net. Expect to see some clouds arrive Friday and Saturday, with some light rain in southern Oregon from time to time. Very little is likely to make it to the Tri-Counties.

Friday will be warm again with a few clouds arriving late in the day. Highs will be in the middle 80s under the early sunshine. Winds will be light and variable.

Saturday, our last weekend of the summer, will be dry and warm with highs in the low to middle 80s. A few clouds will be present, but no rain is expected.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy as a line of showers crosses the coast and heads inland. The rain will not make it over the Cascades, so we will stay dry. If there is a shower, it will be brief and light. Keep the rain gear handy, but I don’t expect much.

Monday will be the start of Fall. The Autumnal Equinox will occur at 11:19 am as the direct rays of the Sun cross the equator and continue their journey south to the Tropic of Capricorn. Highs will be in the low 80s under partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday will see another round of warmer than normal conditions as the mercury reaches the middle 80s. Clouds move in late in the day as we get another chance for rain on Wednesday. Currently the rain on Wednesday looks to be scattered, but we will evaluate that as we get closer to the event. Highs will be in the 70s both Wednesday and Thursday as we start to feel more like Fall.
