Mild pattern continues, temperatures progressively cooling ahead
Bend, OR (KTVZ) -
Today is the warmest day of the week. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 70s, clocking in around 6-8 degrees above normal for this time of year. Temperatures will cool a few degrees by Wednesday, but still be comfortable. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Big changes are coming late this week. An incoming low pressure will bring in much cooler air and chances for rain and mountain snow over a number of days. This low pressure is cut off from the overall flow, which means it will sit and spin for an extended period of time rather than move right along the path. It will impact the region starting Thursday and will bring chances for rain and mountain snow into next week.Â
Temperatures will make a noticeable drop on Thursday. Highs will be in the upper 50s and 60s. There is a chance for a stray shower, but it’s nothing impressive. Chances for rain increase into the weekend.
Measurable snow is likely this weekend. Totals have not yet been nailed down but it will dress the mountains in a little more white nonetheless.
The rain and snow this week could be the official end to fire season. Although the fire season has been quiet for some time now, it doesn’t officially end until a widespread wetting rain falls.
Have a happy Tuesday.
