Cooling into the weekend with off and on rain chances ahead
Bend, OR (KTVZ) -
Today will be the last mild and dry day this week. Temperatures will top out in the upper 60s and low to mid 70s. Skies will start clear this morning but clouds will increase into the night.
There is a chance for a stray shower starting Thursday. Some models are keeping all the rain along the Cascades and further west until Friday, but there is a chance for some of that moisture to make it over to us by tomorrow. Rain chances will increase heading into the weekend. While early Friday should stay dry, showers return late Friday and continue off and on Saturday. A few showers are possible Sunday.
Temperatures will progressively cool through the remainder of the work week so that highs only reach the 40s and 50s this weekend. As temperatures cool, the chance for mountain snow and even a high desert mix increases.
Measurable mountain snow is in the forecast this weekend. Sunday currently looks like the day the mountains will get hit the hardest. The forecast will most definitely change over the coming days, but the main idea is that the first significant mountain snowfall is right around the corner.
Potentially difficult travel through the mountain passes this weekend will be a concern as snow levels are expected to drop.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
