LOCAL ALERT WEATHER DAY: Rainy pattern this week, winds pick up tonight

(KTVZ, Bend Ore.)  Local Alert Day Wednesday as winds and rain combine to create an impactful day, we issue this help make you "weather aware" and safe.

Windy and rainy Wednesday may lead to some minor damage in Central Oregon. To our south and west there are several alerts for wind, and although we are not currently under any advisories or warnings, the winds will be robust enough to move objects around.

The rain is likely to continue off and on until Friday. The mild air, not cold air, will allow the precipitation to be in the form of rain not snow. There may be a wintry mix of rain and snow above 6000 feet, but that is above the pass levels. Driving conditions will be slick and there may be some areas of patchy ice through the passes, so be aware and alert.

Wednesday will be cloudy and highs will reach the upper 50s. Wind will be the main concern as gusts near 40+ mph are possible. The wet ground may compromise some root systems in the region, which may cause some trees to fall onto power lines. Since there are still leaves on the trees in some areas, the wind will be much more efficient in cracking off limbs as well. Localized power outages may be possible Wednesday.

Thursday will be rainy and breezy with steady light rain most of the day.  The total rainfall amounts are not all that impressive when you consider the 4-day totals but we are still abnormally dry in some locations so this soaking rain is beneficial to the region.

Friday will be the last day of the rain and we may see some wintry mix over the high desert as temps cool a bit.

Highs Friday will reach the low 50s and we should see the sunshine by mid-morning.

Saturday and Sunday look dry and mild at the moment.

Please, Stay safe.
