Chances for rain and mountain snow at times throughout the week

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) -

Roads are icy this morning and you’ll likely have to scrape some off your windshield as well. Give yourself an extra 5-10 minutes this morning to heat up your car and drive carefully on your morning commute.

Yesterday was the Winter Solstice which marks the official start of winter. Temperatures this week will range from near to above normal. Highs will be in the 40s.

Periods of light mountain snow will fall today but the high desert will stay dry under scattered clouds.

Central Oregon has a few chances for rain and mix this week but the chances aren’t high, unlike last week’s wet weather. Although there’s the possibility for rain and snow at times, no day looks to be a wash out.

There’s a chance to see a passing shower mid day Tuesday and a chance for a wintry mix overnight into Wednesday. However, dry conditions are likely through daylight hours Wednesday.

We’ve got another chance to see a stray shower or two Thursday but then just mountain snow heading into the weekend.

I was hopeful Mt. Bachelor would be able to open this upcoming weekend, but snow chances have fallen off, becoming less and less. The mountain is roughly halfway there. You will probably have to wait until the new year for opening day.

Happy Monday. Have a great day.
