LOCAL ALERT WEATHER DAY: Very strong winds and a mixture of snow and rain at times

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) -
A system moving across the region today will bring high winds to much of Oregon and chances for snow and rain. The strength of the incoming winds has become a little clearer for the region, so we’ve gone ahead and issued a Local Alert Weather Day today because it could impact your holiday travel plans.

Winds will likely gust between 35-45mph through mid afternoon, but some locally stronger gusts are possible. Secure those holiday decorations! Localized damage and power outages are possible, but not highly anticipated. Travel will likely be impacted today but the incoming system is fast-moving. The best time to travel will be early in the morning or after 3-4pm.
A Wind Advisory is out for most of the Tri-County area until 4pm tonight. For everyone not included, you might not meet advisory criteria but you are under a Special Weather Statement for forecasted high winds.

We’ve got the chance to see a few mixed showers today and tomorrow. They will be light and spotty. Some areas might not see anything but everyone has the chance.
There has been an increased chance of a mixture of rain and snow on Friday. High elevations areas could pick up an inch or so. Friday also looks like the best day for mountain snow. I wouldn’t count on anything too significant, but an additional 3-6” is possible for those eager to hit the slopes this weekend.
The weekend will be dry and cool with highs in the 40s.
Have a wonderful day and a very Happy Holiday!
