Snow showers expected Friday then dry and chilly the rest of the weekend

Bend, Ore (KTVZ)-- A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the western sections of Deschutes and Jefferson Counties for Friday along with the crest of the Cascades. There is a chance for measurable snow in La Pine, Sunriver, and Sisters Friday as the last in the series of low-pressure systems moves inland. The snow will fall mainly on the mountains so those traveling across the passes, prepare for wintry conditions.

The High Desert locations that will see some snow will receive about an inch or so before sunrise, then mainly a mix off and on. The temperatures are expected to be in the 40s most of the day, so the mix is more likely.

The overnight time frame will be much colder so there is still the likelihood of snow accumulating along 97. Icy conditions under the snow will also be a concern as we drop below freezing.

Winds will accompany the snow and rain compounding driving conditions.
Saturday is the start of a dry and sunny pattern. Highs on Saturday will only reach the 30s as colder air arrives after the wintry mix. Winds will be in the “breezy” category, around 10 – 15 mph so the wind chill values may be closer to the upper 20s late in the day and evening.
Sunday kicks off a slight warming trend that will continue through the last few days of 2025. Temps will be near normal, reaching the low 40s. Dry conditions will accompany the slight warm up as we head to the new year.
Highs Monday will be in the low 40s followed by the upper 40s on Tuesday. The mercury reaches the 50s on Wednesday, the last day of 2025, and once again on New Years Day.
Have a great holiday week.
