Chances for snow and rain today, cool and dry this weekend

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) -

Many areas are waking up to a little snow this morning. Roads will be slick and slushy for your morning commute or post-holiday travel.

Central Oregon has the chance to see a couple snow and rain showers through the day before the region dries out this weekend.

Mountain snow will continue today and tomorrow. A Winter Weather Advisory is active until 7am Saturday for the eastern slopes and areas south of Bend and until 4pm Saturday for the Cascades. Anywhere from 0-2” is expected in Central Oregon, but most of that has fallen already. The mountains will pick up between 3-6” today, and a total of 6-8” by the end of Saturday. Locally heavier amounts are possible. More ski resorts are expected to be able to open.

We’ll head into the new year dry with temperatures a little above normal. Highs will be in the 40s and lower 50s at times next week. Overnight temperature will be chilly, in the teens and 20s.

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend.
