Air Stagnation Advisory in effect as quiet weather pattern continues

KTVZ

Portions of Central Oregon remain under an Air Stagnation Advisory until noon on Thursday. Light winds can allow pollutants to build up near the surface, impacting air quality. Smoke from pile burns, prescribed burns, and fireplaces will not disperse easily.

Some areas may also be dealing with some patchy fog/freezing fog this morning.

High pressure is in control, keeping conditions quiet over the next few days.

We’ll top out in the mid to upper 40s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, will be our transition day as clouds increase ahead of rain arriving on New Year’s Day. Light rain is expected through much of Thursday before tapering off overnight.

Highs will climb into the upper 40s on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected Friday, with highs reaching the low 50s. A few additional light showers will be possible.

Rain is more likely to hold off until Saturday, which will be another mild day. We’ll see a chance for off and on showers, along with a slight chance for a wintry mix early or late in the day.
