Possible record warmth this week, along with poor air quality

Headlines

Bend, Ore (KTVZ)— Near record warmth this week as the ridge of high pressure remains over the western United States providing sunshine and a milder than usual conditions.

High temperatures this time of year are expected to be in the low 40s while the actual highs today and tomorrow will be closer to 60. The air under the ridge is also not moving much so the smoke generated by pile burns, agricultural burns, and chimney fires will stay around.

Air Quality issues this week going to be monitored closely as we have seen unhealthy readings in southern Deschutes County the past few days. Overnight, when the cooler air takes over, the smoke that has drifted overhead sinks and we have issues with pollution.

Wednesday will be similar to today with highs near 60, light winds and plenty of sunshine.

Thursday will still be mild, but slightly cooler as the high shifts off the coast slightly.  Highs will be in the low 50s, still about 10-degrees above normal, but not as warm as today and Wednesday.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be dry and quiet with upper 40s Friday and a bit of a breeze. Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and mild again with highs in the low 50s.

The normal high temperature on April 1st is 55° in Bend, we are seeing numbers close to that this week, mid-January.

The weather patterns are likely to return to normal next week with highs in the low to middle 40s.

Please, Stay safe.
