LOCAL ALERT WEATHER DAY: Light Snow and Freezing Fog Forecasted

KTVZ-TV

Bend, Ore (KTVZ)—   The persistent pattern of freezing fog has yet to change. There thought was that the high-pressure ridge was breaking down and that would de-couple the trapped fog in the region. That has not occurred yet, and in fact, there has been snow falling lightly through the morning. Roads are slick and visibility is reduced so please stay alert today.

We have issued the Local Alert Weather Day as the conditions have deteriorated from what we have seen this week. The addition of the light snow to our freezing fog has complicated and compromised the forecast.

At lower elevations, highs once again will not pass the freezing mark as the fog deck remains in place. This may linger into Saturday as it seems unlikely that this fog is going anywhere.

Travel to Mt. Bachelor if you want to see any sunshine, it is a bluebird day across the Cascades.

Saturday will see highs in the low 30s with mostly cloudy and foggy weather conditions. Travel through the tri-counties will be impacted negatively once more.  There is still some hope that the skies will clear out late in the day, but late enough in the day to limit the warming properties of the sun.

Sunday will be misty to start once again and with the cold air mass in place we will only reach the low 30s.  As the day moves along the sunshine has a chance to return.

Monday will be mostly cloudy and mild with highs in the upper 40s. A passing shower is possible in the afternoon, but not much consequence. The mostly cloudy skies will not allow us to warm up much, but the ridge of high pressure responsible for the warmup may help.  But, if the fog doesn’t get pushed out by this new ridge, we are looking at more chilly and misty weather next week.

Please, Stay safe.
