Above normal temps this week

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – The mercury in the thermometer will be well above our normal “mid-40s” this week as we hit the 60s. There is a ridge of high pressure over the western half of the country that will provide us with the warmer than average temperatures. This will also keep most of the cloud cover away except for some high clouds that will ride over the ridge.
The filtered sunshine thought the high clouds will not be present the rest of the week, so we should see mostly sunny skies. The winds will not be all that impressive this week either, so the NWS has issued yet another Air Quality Alert due to the trapped smoke in the region. Air quality deteriorates overnight as the cold air settles to the surface and brings in the particulate matter. AQI improves as the sun warms the area and the air rises with the particles of pollution.
Highs the rest of the work week will top out in the 60s with plenty of sunshine. Not great news for the resorts, but if you are a fan of a lower heating bill, this is the week for you.
The next chance for some rain is not until Sunday when we may also get some mountain snow. This looks to be a one and done, with some clearing on Monday.
Patchy fog is possible each night but may not be too impactful. Lows overnight still dip below freezing with the light winds and little cloud cover.
Please, Stay safe.
