Warmer than normal pattern continues into the weekend

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Very mild week continues in Central Oregon as the ridge of high pressure over the western US remains. High temperatures this week have been in the 60s and upper 50s in Bend, Redmond and Prineville and even the middle 50s in Sisters and La Pine. This above normal pattern will continue into the weekend.
Highs Thursday are likely to once again hit the upper 50s to low 60s under mostly sunny skies. The normal high for this time of year is around 45 so the 60s is a “spring-like” pattern rather than a winter one. We will do this over again on Friday as we get more sun than clouds and highs near 60.
We are expecting some wet weather over the weekend so the regime will be changing. Saturday will be the “setup” day with clouds moving in as the day moves along. The highs will still be in the middle 50s, but that will be trending cooler on Sunday.
A slight chance for some light rain late in the day Saturday is in the forecast package, but I believe it will not be until after midnight into Sunday. Central Oregon is still too warm for snow but we may see a few wet and fat flakes fly before sunrise Sunday, but for the most part, rain will be the featured precipitation type.
Sunday night into Monday our pattern will still be wet, but there is a chance for some light mountain snow to arrive before dawn Monday.
The light rain and mix in the morning will be short-lived as the region will dry out in the afternoon. Moving forward into Tuesday there is a slight chance for some light snow or flurries, but not much accumulation, if any.
Wednesday will be dry, but a series of light rain and mountain snow events may be in the cards for late next week.
Please, Stay safe.
