Mild pattern remains; rain arrives late Saturday

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – A pristine start to the day at Mount Bachelor as the bluebird conditions continue. The fog did not linger much past dawn in the region this morning across the high desert. Impacts were mainly north of Bend with the fog lifting by around 10 am. The Bend area saw mostly clear conditions to start the day, so the mild temperature readings have returned.

Tonight, will be mostly clear with some patchy fog possible as the temperatures drop into the low to middle 30s. La Pine and Sisters will be in the middle to upper 20s.
Saturday will be the “setup day” as a line of showers organizes off the coast and moves inland. The clouds will fill in as the day moves along and by the afternoon the region will be mostly cloudy. The mercury in the thermometer will get to the middle 50s, even with the cloud cover, and the rain will take some time to make it to the ground.
The advent of the showers will not be until after sunset, but the rain is likely to be most of the night. The light and steady nature of the rain will keep the temperatures fairly steady Saturday into Sunday with lows in the 40s.
Sunday will be a rainy and mild as Central Oregon will be in the warm sector most of the day. Rain will be steady with some areas getting about a half an inch. The mountains will get mostly rain as well due to the above normal pattern in place and the warm air arriving ahead of the cold front. The front will pass through the region late in the day so the last few hours of this rain event will be a mix of rain and snow.
The rain and wintry mix will end late Sunday night, and the morning commute Monday will not be impacted. There may be some slick spots on secondary roads as temps will briefly be below freezing before sunrise Monday, but generally the event will be well off to the east.
Once the rain and mix end, the temperatures in Central Oregon will be near normal. Highs Monday through Wednesday will be in the middle 40s, in line with the climatological temps this time of year.
Next week will be dry until Friday when we put a chance for some rain and snow in the forecast.
Please, Stay safe.
