Partial clearing tonight, dry and mild Friday

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Early snow showers verified the Local Alert Weather Day as the roads were slick and visibility was reduced. As mentioned, this was not going to be a big snow day, but more of an inconvenient event that may disrupt your day. Eastern Deschutes and Crook Counties will be the last to see the snow today as the system begins to settle down.

The snow showers are lingering over the region with little more than a dusting left in the area. The Winter Weather Advisory was allowed to expire early, and the area will be drying out and warming up. The solar energy will melt most of the snow and the roads will be wet.

Cline Butte looking Southeast, little snow fell in that region

Not everyone saw the snow today, looking southeast from Cline Butte you cannot see any accumulation. Icy conditions are possible tonight on the roads that are less traveled. If you are out late, make sure to be aware of the slick conditions.

Friday will be dry and chilly with a slight breeze and mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s. Normal highs for late February should be in the middle 40s. Late in the day some clouds move in ahead of a brief round of snow that will greet us Saturday morning.

The snow Saturday morning will be done by mid-morning and only provide a dusting. There will be a mix at the end of the snow before drying out and warming up to near normal temperatures.

Sunday will be cloudy and milder with some rain and snow mixed together.  Highs reach the 50s as we close out the last week of February.

Monday will be a rainy day as a we get milder air at the same time as the precipitation. An interesting weekend as two low pressure systems orbit off the coast. These lows will be the elements responsible for the off again, on again wet conditions through Monday.

The tandem lows dissipate and we begin a dry and near normal regiment of weather starting Tuesday.  Stray mountain showers arrive at night Tuesday into Wednesday, but generally the pattern can be defined as mostly dry Tuesday through next Saturday.

Please, Stay safe.
