Mostly dry and chilly Tuesday, mountain snow and rain chances midweek

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Central Oregon will see mostly dry and chilly conditions Tuesday, with afternoon highs in the upper 30s to 40s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.

A Winter Weather Advisory begins at 11am today for the east slopes of the Cascades and lasts until 5pm Wednesday. Snow is expected above 4,500 feet, including the passes, which could lead to slick travel and reduced visibility.

In Central Oregon, temperatures warm into the low to mid 50s Wednesday, so most precipitation will fall as light rain, though a rain/snow mix is possible early. Rain totals should stay light due to rain shadowing.

Winds may become breezy at times midweek, especially Wednesday into Thursday, before easing heading into the weekend.

We have a chance for periods of rain and high level snow on Thursday. Some lingering rain is possible Friday, but showers should taper off at the end of the week.

More sunshine is expected to return by the weekend, with temperatures warming into the upper 50s to low 60s Saturday and Sunday.
