Cold night ahead as we clear out and dry out for the holiday weekend

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Clearing out and colder tonight as polar air mass lingers. The feature that brough us the snow overnight is now migrating to the east. On the back side of the system is much colder air.

As the skies clear tonight and the winds relax a bit, the mercury in the thermometer will drop quickly. Tonight will be more reminiscent of mid-winter than early spring as temps hit the teens and 20s. If you have some tender vegetation on your porch, or something is sprouting early in the yard, you may want to tend to them tonight.

Friday will be cold to start but warm up quickly as highs reach into the low 60s. Normal highs for this time of year are around 55, so the low 60s are not much above the seasonal norms, but it will be about 15 – 20 degrees milder than today.

A ridge of high pressure is expanding north into Oregon and will be our main feature for the holiday weekend. Highs on Saturday will reach the low 70s so get out and enjoy our nearly summer conditions. Normal highs for June are the low 70s, so we go from a wintry feel to a summer feel in less than 36 hours.

Easter Sunday will be sunny and almost warm as we hit the middle 70s. Any outdoor activities will not be impacted by the weather. Easter egg hunts or the sunrise services Sunday will be lovely. Sunrise on Easter Sunday is 6:39 in Bend, and the temperature will be around 40 under partly cloudy skies. If you are planning to attend any of the many sunrise services this weekend, wear a jacket and enjoy the morning.

Monday will be similar to Sunday but with a few more clouds, some spotty showers possible, but not likely. Tuesday has us in the 60s for highs and partly cloudy, followed by a breezy Wednesday and a cloudy Thursday.

Bachelor got about a foot of snow with this event, so if you enjoy riding the snow, get up to the mountain today. Spring skiing conditions this weekend with highs in the 40s and 50s, so enjoy. Great to see snow added to our snow starved season, good for the snowpack as well.

Please, Stay safe.
