Filtered sunshine today, wet pattern developing

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Temperatures today were once again above normal but did not approach the levels we saw Monday. Highs are still expected to stay well above normal this week and into the weekend.

The chance for some isolated showers and possibly a thunderstorm exists Thursday and Friday.  These will be mainly afternoon pop up storms that will be well scattered and not too electric. If you are out and about over the next couple of days, stay alert for the thunder and take cover is you hear it. If you can hear it, you are close enough for concern.

Other than the pop-up storms or showers, the mild pattern will make for a nice day to enjoy the outdoors.  Highs hit the low 70s and upper 60s Wednesday through Friday.

The best chance for more of a widespread rain event is Saturday and Sunday.  The low off the coast of California will make its way into northern California, but another low will be dropping south from Alaska and that will bring in the cooler pattern to accompany the wet one.

The chance for some mountain snow returns Saturday night and Sunday as this low arrives.  The chance for a wintry mix across the high desert is also on the table. Saturday will be rainy and cooler with highs in the upper 50s and Sunday will be a few degrees cooler with highs in the low 50s. The snow, if it materializes should be above 5 or 6 thousand feet, so a mix is what I expect across the Tri Counties.

Conditions improve Monday late morning with the advent of a brief dry pattern. The morning commute may be slick Monday, then the drive home will be dry.

Below are some lovely pics from Bachelor, the Outback Lift and the Nordic Center.

Please, Stay safe.
