Cloudy with a Chance of Everything: Central Oregon’s Forecast

KTVZ-TV

Grab your rain gear and keep an eye on the sky—Central Oregon is in for a wet, unsettled stretch of weather. From the high desert plateaus of Bend and Prineville to the Cascade foothills, a series of storm systems will bring consistent rain, possible thunderstorms, and maybe even some (light) late-week mountain snow.

The Immediate Outlook: Rain and Thunder

For the rest of today and through the evening, residents in Bend, Madras, Prineville, and Redmond should prepare for rain showers and a 70% chance of precipitation. Isolated thunderstorms are possible, which could bring heavier 'downpours' compared to the light rainfall expected elsewhere. Highs will hover in the mid-60s before dropping into the 40s tonight.

A Soggy Weekend Ahead

The damp trend continues through Saturday and Sunday. While Saturday morning may see a brief break, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to return with highs in the low 60s. By Sunday, temperatures will begin a steady cooling trend, struggling to reach the mid-50s as rain chances remain high at 70%.

Mountain Snow and Mid-Week Chill

For those in higher elevations like Sisters, Sunriver, and La Pine, the weather will be significantly more intense.

  • Saturday & Sunday: Expect rain and high-mountain snow showers. While little snow accumulation is expected Saturday, Sunday night could see light totals on the peaks.

Looking Toward Thursday

The region should see a slight break by next Thursday, with partly cloudy skies and highs returning to the around 50 degrees. Until then, expect slick roads and cooler-than-average spring temperatures.
