Mostly dry Monday, Cascade Winter Storm Watch begins tomorrow

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Expect partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies today, with just a slight chance for a passing shower. Highs will reach the upper 40s to mid 50s.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 5pm Tuesday through 5am Wednesday for the east slopes of the Cascades. Moderate to heavy snow above 4,000 feet could make travel difficult, along with wind gusts up to 45 mph.

Wednesday looks to be the wettest day of the week, with a mix of rain and snow possible across the High Desert. Little to no accumulation is expected for lower elevations, but the mountains could pick up around 10 inches of snow with this system.

Temperatures cool down midweek, running about 5 to 10 degrees below normal. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will only reach the upper 40s, while overnight lows fall into the 20s. Some areas of southern Deschutes County could even dip into the teens.

High pressure builds back in late week, bringing drier conditions and a gradual warm up heading into the weekend. Temperatures return to the low to mid 60s by Saturday and Sunday.
