Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend receives $50K renovation grant
Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend announced Thursday they will receive a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s to give the Downtown Bend location an interior upgrade. Each of the program areas and administrative offices will receive a fresh new look and are looking to maximize the given spaces without compromising the historical building’s foundation. The grant is part of Renovation Across the Nation, a program between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Lowe’s that provides one Club in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. with a grant and volunteer support from Lowe’s to complete much-needed improvements and renovations.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend was selected as the signature Club in the state of Oregon for 2018. As the need to update facilities increases and maintenance costs rise, Lowe’s support will help the Club make critical improvements to ensure the Club remains a safe and inviting place for Bend’s youth and teens who need it most. Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend will be looking to the community for matching dollars and in-kind support to stretch the grant funding in order to cover all of the updates the Club needs to ensure child safety, quality programs and a great space for kids to thrive.

With a 101-year-old building that sees over 200 kids daily, one can imagine the need for upgrades and improvements. We look forward to partnering with our community to maximize the Lowe’s grant and ensure that the Club is in top shape for years to come.”
The renovations at the Downtown Bend location began in April. The Club will be partnering with Lowe’s store in Bend to complete the renovation projects. The renovations are scheduled to be completed by this fall, when the public will be invited to tour the building and see its upgrades.
