Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

Breezy conditions will stay with us through sunset tonight. Temperatures will still be mild, but the winds will make it feel cooler. Partly cloudy skies will become mostly clear overnight. Lows will be above average in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Tomorrow begins with some sunshine and mild temperatures. Daytime highs will be above average once again in the mid to upper 70s. Winds will be gusty at times out of the northwest around 30 miles per hour. Clouds will increase out from the west throughout the day.

We have a chance for showers developing as soon as the sunset hour on Friday. This chance is for the east slopes of the Cascades or areas closer to the mountains. Most of the High Desert will be dry through the evening on Friday. If you have plans to go out to the Sisters Rodeo on Friday, I would be prepared for a few light showers.

Overnight into Saturday is when the real shower activity arrives. We’ll see rain across the Cascades first, then spilling over into Central Oregon. During this time a cold front will also move out from the west. The cold front brings us MUCH cooler temperatures.

Highs on Saturday will peak in the mid to upper 50s, which is more than 10 degrees below average. Most of the shower activity will be heavy in the morning and until the early afternoon. We’ll see scattered showers in the evening. The chance for showers lingers through Sunday.

Lows for the weekend will be cold, so I would cover up any sensitive plants. Temperatures will fall into the low to mid 30s Saturday night. Sunday sees mostly cloudy skies overhead apart from a few lingering showers. Highs will be chilly in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

By the time we get to the beginning of the week temperatures will be back around average in the lower 70s with mostly sunny skies.
