Redmond educator Julie Gilbertson wins regional teacher of the year title

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Julie Gilbertson, a first grade teacher at John Tuck Elementary, was surprised today during an all-school assembly with the announcement that she has been named the 2026-27 High Desert Regional Teacher of the Year.

Gilbertson is one of 17 educators selected for the regional honor across Oregon. Students and staff gathered at the school to celebrate her achievement.

Gilbertson has worked for the Redmond School District for 20 years, spending 11 of those years teaching at John Tuck Elementary. During her tenure, she has focused on creating a classroom environment where every student feels valued, supported and welcome.
