Officials search for who flew drone over SW Oregon fire

KTVZ

TRAIL, Ore. (AP) – Authorities are searching for the person who flew a drone over a helicopter that was dropping water on a wildfire in southwest Oregon.

There is a temporary flight restriction for drones over all wildfires because they can interfere with firefighting work being done by air tankers and helicopters.

The incident happened at Burnt Peak in Jackson County.

The unknown suspect could face state charges and possible federal penalties from the Federal Aviation Administration.
