(Update: Police say boy found safe)
Redmond police issued a public alert Sunday evening to help find a missing 10-year-old boy with Down Syndrome and reported around 7:20 p.m. that he had been found safe and unharmed.
Officer Hannah Copeland said officers had been in the 2900 block of Southwest Canal Boulevard, near Volcano Avenue, looking for the child, named Ethan, since the call was received at 5:20 p.m. The boy was reported to have been last seen five minutes before the call.
Copeland said Ethan could be wearing a red shirt, with blue or khaki shorts. “Those living in the area should immediately check outbuildings, vehicles and backyards,” Copeland said.
Police said in a 7:20 p.m. update that the boy had been “located safe and unharmed” in the area of Southwest Reindeer Avenue and 21st Street.
“Thank you, everyone, who assisted,” officers said after numerous community members joined the search, many made aware by Emergency Phone Network (EPN) notifications to area residents.
