Fire damages vacant Deschutes River Woods home

KTVZ

A vacant Deschutes River Woods home that had just undergone remodeling was heavily damaged in a fire early Wednesday morning, officials said.

Bend Fire Department crews responded shortly before 6 a.m. to the reported structure fire in the 19000 block of Sioux Lane, Fire Inspector Steve Stenkamp said.

The first crews to arrive found tall flames coming from the back of the home as the fire spread into the attic. A total of 16 personnel were called out, along with three engines and a water tender.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, Stenkamp said. The home, worth about $300,000, sustained $150,000 in damage, he added.

A fire official told NewsChannel 21 at the scene that the homeowners had been working on putting the house on the market soon.
