Escaped campfire sparks wildfire south of Walton Lake
An escaped campfire south of Walton Lake on the Ochoco National Forest burned nearly 20 acres Thursday before crews got a bulldozer line around it, officials said.
Firefighters responded late Thursday morning to Incident 1138, located about two miles south of Walton Lake, Forest Service spokeswoman Kassidy Kern said.
A half-dozen engines, a bulldozer and a crew responded and stopped the fire at about 19 1/2 acres.
Crews completed a bulldozer line around the 19-acre fire Thursday afternoon and will now work to secure it, Kern said.
