Bend woman crowned as 2019 Miss NPRA
The Northwest Professional Rodeo Association announced Friday that on Saturday, Sept. 22, Emylia Breckel of Bend was crowned the 2019 Miss Northwest Professional Rodeo Association at the conclusion of the NPRA Finals championship rodeo, held in Prineville.
Breckel is a 20-year-old Central Oregon native, raised by her parents Dave and Michelle Breckel . She a graduated from Mountain View High School in 2016.
Through high school, she competed in OHSET and was involved in FFA.
Emylia has her heart set on pursuing a career as a Radiology Therapist. As a young child, her parents played a big part to instill responsibility and a strong worth ethic into Emylia . Her involvement in 4-H and FFA encourage that, as she raised pigs and the money she earned each year was saved.
Emylia has participated in many sports, but has always found her way back to the sport she truly loves, rodeo. She spends time working with her 3-year-old equine partner, Cash, a mustang she adopted when he was 6 months old.
Emylia has held previous rodeo royalty titles, including 2015 Jefferson County Fair and Rodeo Court Princess, 2016 Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo Queen, and 2017 Sisters Rodeo Queen.
At the Miss NPRA pageant this year, in addition to the crown, Emylia was awarded top honors in photogenics , sales, horsemanship, knowledge, appearance, personality, and speech.
Her official coronation dinner is set for Saturday, March 9, 2019, but she will begin her reign and travels on Jan. 1, 2019.
Emylia says, “Growing up watching sports, I was always drawn to rodeo, a sport full of individual events and yet one of the most united. I am proud of my Western Heritage and look forward to the opportunity to share my passion for rodeo and its lifestyle throughout the Northwest. I cannot think of an organization that better represents the best role models, leaders, and mentors of our world than the cowboys and cowgirls of the NPRA .”
