Crook County man jailed on rape, abuse charges
A raid on a home north of Prineville Thursday morning resulted in the arrest of a resident accused of rape and sex abuse, as well as a probation violation, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.
In the past week, the sheriff’s office was contacted by a woman who reported a sexual assault had occurred this month at the residence, in the 7500 block of Northwest Vista View Lane, Undersheriff James Savage said.
An investigation led deputies to obtain a search warrant for the home, as well as a neighboring residence in the 4100 block of Mint Lane, to gather possible evidence, Savage said.
A suspect was identified as Timothy Neal Evans, 40, of the Vista View address.
Shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday, sheriff’s deputies, assisted by Redmond and Prineville police, served the search warrant at the Vista View Lane home and arrested Evans on first-degree charges of rape, unlawful sexual penetration and sex abuse. He was lodged at the county jail on those charges and held without bail on a probation violation warrant.
Two years ago, a sheriff’s office investigation of fuel thefts north of Prineville led to a raid on the same home and the arrest of Evans and two other people on theft, drugs and other charges.
Court records show Evans has been arrested on eight felony charges between 2013 and 2017, several alleging methamphetamine possession, as well as misdemeanor charges last year of failure to appear in court and felon in possession of a restricted weapon.
In May 2017, Evans pleaded guilty to fleeing or attempting to elude police and recklessly endangering another person, court records show. He was sentenced to a year’s driver’s license suspension, 18 months probation and 10 days in jail, amended in January of this year to 60 days in jail for probation violation.
