Redmond man arrested in parking-lot stabbing

A man was stabbed by a family member Friday night during a dispute in the parking lot of a southwest Redmond apartment complex, police said Saturday, and the suspect ran but was found nearby, detained and later arrested.

Officers were dispatched around 9:10 p.m. to the reported dispute in the parking lot of the Reindeer Meadows Apartments at 1601 SW Reindeer Avenue, Lt. Curtis Chambers said.

Officers helped the wounded man receive treatment from Redmond Fire & Rescue medics for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, Marc Everett Hunter, 44, of Redmond, was located nearby and detained by officers. He later was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail in Bend, where he was booked on charges of fourth-degree assault, menacing, coercion and unlawful use of a weapon.

Hunter remained held Saturday afternoon on $30,000 bail, jail records showed.

The investigation revealed the two men were related, Chambers said, and no one else is being sought in the case.

“It does appear alcohol and other drugs were contributing factors in the dispute between the family members,” the lieutenant said in Saturday’s update. He did not know the family relationship or have other details to provide.

Redmond police were assisted by a Bend police K-9 team that searched the area and helped to find a straight-blade knife believed to have been used in the assault, Chambers said.

“The knife likely would not have been found without the use of the K-9,” he added.

“During the time this incident was investigated, several other calls for service were received, to include a non-criminal death investigation, a suicidal individual on the NW Maple Avenue bridge spanning the Dry Canyon and several others, resulting in a delayed response,” Chambers wrote.

“Redmond Police is appreciative of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, who assisted by taking several calls within the city limits of Redmond, while all of our resources were committed,” the lieutenant said.
