Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

KTVZ

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

Tonight will stay calm and mostly clear. Lows will dip into the low to mid 20s. We’ll see air quality between ‘good’ and ‘moderate’ overnight across Central Oregon. Most of the smoke is from local burning, wood stoves, and prescribed burns with little smoke coming from California.

Tomorrow high pressure will give way to a cold front passing through. We’ll still stay in the mid 50s tomorrow, which is about 5 degrees above average. Winds will be breezy at times gusting 15 miles per hour. Mostly sunny skies are ahead before we see changes overnight into Saturday.

Before sunrise Saturday morning we’ll see clouds push back into Central Oregon. The weak front could bring some very light showers to the Cascades and potentially parts of the High Desert, but chances right now are quite slim. We’ll be keeping a close eye on that chance for you.

Saturday will see partly cloudy skies behind the front with chilly daytime highs. Temperatures top out in the low to mid 40s, but we are expected to be dry, so bundle up if you’re headed outdoors! Remember, Cascade Lakes Highway and the road to Paulina & East Lakes will be CLOSED for the season Monday morning.

By Sunday we’ll see more sunshine and highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. We could see some smoke roll back into Central Oregon by this time and the beginning of next week.

Conditions stay mild and dry through Thanksgiving. The end of next week could see rain showers making a return to the High Desert with snow for the Cascades. Keep doing your snow dances!
