Family Access Network receives $2,500 donation

KTVZ

The Family Access Network (FAN) Foundation has received a generous $2,500 grant from the MDU Resources Foundation. The funds will be used to provide crucial FAN advocate services to 25 children and family members in Central Oregon who are low-income, living in poverty or experiencing homelessness.

Throughout the year, FAN advocates will work to connect kids in need to the resources necessary to thrive in school and life, such as warm clothing, nutritious food, safe housing, health care and much more.

“FAN is so grateful to have MDU Resources’ support. Together, we are helping to make a difference in the lives of local children and their families,” said Executive Director Julie Lyche.

Incorporated in 1983, the MDU Resources Foundation and member companies (MDU Utilities Group, Knife River Corporation, WBI Energy, Inc., and MDU Construction Services Group) aim to give back to the communities they operate in, in order to build stronger communities. This goes hand in hand with FAN’s commitment to create a community where children flourish and families thrive.

Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in January 1993 and currently employs 24 advocates in 55 public schools (K-12) and early childhood sites in Deschutes and Crook Counties, to efficiently reach and connect disadvantaged children and families to critical basic-need services such as: food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, and more. In the 2017/18 school year, FAN advocates improved the lives of more than 9,000 children and family members in Central Oregon.
