A 71-year-old Sisters man was arrested on DUII, menacing and other charges Thursday afternoon after a road rage incident in which he allegedly pointed a handgun at another car occupied by a couple and two children near a northeast Bend intersection, police said.

Officers were dispatched around 2:40 p.m. to the reported road rage incident involving a firearm near Northeast Eighth Street and Olney Avenue, Sgt. Adam Juhnke said Friday.

Officers learned the victims, a 27-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, had called to report a man later identified as Zeke Duge pulled a gun and pointed it at them near the intersection due to a driving issue, Juhnke said.

Juhnke noted that two small children were in the man’s car at the time but said he had no specifics yet on the “driving-related issues” between the suspect and victim.

Police quickly found the suspect’s car near Neff Road and Purcell Boulevard and took Duge into custody without incident.

“Officers were able to confirm Duge did point a loaded firearm (the 27-year-old’s) vehicle and all four occupants,” Juhnke said, adding that a handgun was recovered from Duge’s car.

Duge was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of DUII-alcohol, reckless endangering, unlawful use/carrying of a weapon, second-degree disorderly conduct and menacing.

A jail officer said Duge was released from jail late Thursday night after posting 10 percent of his $105,000 bail.
