Local Alert Weather – Mon. PM

KTVZ

Happy Monday evening, everyone!

We’ve seen a warm front today which brought us a brief mild day, but we’ll see cooler air towards the middle of the week. Dry conditions are expected through midnight before the next system moves into Oregon. Winds will be breezy at times ahead of the cold front gusting 20 miles per hour out of the southeast.

Rain showers roll into Central Oregon overnight and will be heavy at times along with the breezy conditions. Winds will gust around 20 miles per hour through overnight. Clouds will be overhead along with the rain showers, so we’ll see mild overnight lows. Low temperatures will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Our average overnight low is 23 degrees at the Redmond airport.

Showers will begin the day for us, so make sure you have the rain jacket ready as you step out the door. In some locations surfaces could be slick, but likely just wet. We’ll see windy conditions for the first half of the day as the cold front moves east.

By lunchtime showers should taper off and we’ll see scattered showers through the afternoon. Highs will still be on the mild side in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Snow levels will be around 6,800′ tomorrow morning before falling to 5,100′ in the evening. Mt. Bachelor is looking at about 6″ of snow by Wednesday morning. Some snow could also get mixed in through higher elevations.

Wednesday seems to have the best chance at staying dry most of the day. We’ll see mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid to upper 40s.

Cooler air moves in for the second half of the week and weekend, but we’ll be back to average in the low to mid 40s. Overnight lows will be back in the 20s and well below the freezing mark, so if you’ve seen a wet surface during the day then you’ll likely see an icy surface at night and in the morning.

A chance for rain and snow showers is ahead for Thursday and Friday for most of Central Oregon. Bundle up and be careful on the roads as we’ll likely see icy conditions and slippery sidewalks.
