Car crashes into NE Bend medical office window
(Update: Police provide more details)
An SUV crashed into the front window of a northeast Bend medical office Tuesday morning when an 83-year-old woman stepped on the gas instead of the brake, injuring a woman sitting in the lobby, police said.
Shortly before 10 a.m., police responded to Cascade Gastroenterology on NE Medical Center Drive on the reported crash, Bend police Lt. Clint Burleigh said.
It was a low-speed crash but caused substantial damage to the business, Burleigh said.
The driver, Sylvia Wyatt, was at the wheel of a 2008 Honda CRV who hit the gas instead of the brake, causing it to lunge over a curb and hit the building.
A 46-year-old Bend woman who was sitting on a couch next to the wall was hit by the SUV. She was treated by Bend Fire medics and taken to St. Charles Bend with non-life-threatening injuries, Burleigh said.
Wyatt, who was unhurt in the crash, was cited for careless driving.
The business declined to speak with NewsChannel 21 about the incident.
