Bend to reopen stretch of Empire Avenue Friday

KTVZ

The city of Bend announced Wednesday that it will reopen Empire Avenue between 18 th Street and Purcell Boulevard on Friday after an upgrade project that lasted several months.

The city had originally planned to reopen this section of Empire Avenue on Dec. 3.

As part of this reopening, the temporary traffic control revision to the 18 th and Brinson Boulevard intersection will be reverted to its original configuration. Expect to see flaggers working at the 18 th and Brinson intersection for a few hours on Friday afternoon while construction crews complete this work.

The city said it wants to “thank everyone for their ongoing patience during this high-priority city transportation project.”

The next stage of the Empire Corridor Improvements project includes work to the east of Purcell Boulevard. Roundabout construction at Empire Avenue and Purcell Boulevard will continue through winter months, if weather allows. Only minor traffic impacts are expected through the winter months.

The Empire Corridor Improvements project is a priority project that will improve safety, multi-modal transportation options, access and connectivity for the neighborhood and the traveling public. See the project webpage for more information: www.bendoregon.gov/empire.
